Cat Department Rules
1. Member may enter only one cat.
2. Entries can be entered on-line, or forms are due in the Fair office by July 25th. See rule #1 on 4-H General Rules and Regulations. Entry must be signed by parent or guardian of each exhibitor assuming any and all responsibilities and liability resulting from any action, accidents or misfortune to the cats, exhibitors and spectators. All exhibitors or clubs participating at this Fair in these events must be accompanied by an adult leader, advisor, and/or parent or guardian.
3. Veterinary check will be Sunday before the Fair from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. If you can not make this time please call the Superintendent to make other arrangements.
4. Exhibitors must enter Herdsmanship, Fitting and Showing and Type.
5. No pregnant or nursing cats may be entered.
6. At least one attendant for every eight cats shall be on duty at all times. The attendant must be a 4-H cat exhibitor. One adult leader, parent and/or guardian shall be on duty at all times. All cats will be displayed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. No cats will be left in the benching area overnight.
7. While on the Fairgrounds, all cats must be transported in a pet carrier, be in a suitable harness, and on a leash.
8. Cages are to be decorated, but cats must be in full view at all times.
9. Exhibitor must present proof of vaccination by a licensed veterinarian. All cats must have been vaccinated against rabies with an approved vaccine within 12 months (36 months is acceptable where product label so indicates.) Cats must be vaccinated against feline panleukopenia, feline rhinotrachetis, calici viruses, chlamydia and feline leukemia within 12 months.
10. Cages will be provided. Owners must supply own litter, litter box, scoop, bedding, food, and dishes.

CLASS D - IDENTIFICATION AND FIRST AID CONTEST
Written test on your knowledge of the parts of a cat, breed of cats, equipment, general care and first aid. Information sources: 4-H Cornel Book and The Book of the Cat.

CLASS E - GROOMING CONTEST
This is a Team competition. Each team will consist of 2 members. The members of the team need not be in the same age group. Time allotment - 30 minutes. Each team will start and stop at the same time. Any team that is finished grooming before the time is up must stay at their location and wait for "time" to be called. The cat to be groomed must meet the health requirements and have a current vaccination certificate. The cat must be examined before entering the cat barn. The cat used in the grooming contest cannot be one of the cats exhibited at the Fair. All necessary grooming equipment must be included in the team's grooming kit, including a table to groom on. Team members may not borrow or go and get additional grooming/showing items once the competition has begun. All items in the kit must be used properly during the competition. Team members will not seek advice from anyone outside of their team. The cat must be bathed prior to the contest.

CLASS G - HERDSMANSHIP
Judging will be done on an individual basis, based on display, educational poster, name on stall cards. Cleanliness and orderliness of cages, equipment out of sight or neatly displayed, alleyway swept and neat, educational displays – 60%
Exhibitors (youth on duty) appearance, courtesy, conduct and cooperation of job - 30%
Cats harnessed and in cages at all times except during grooming - 10%.
