4H Dog Department Rules:
1. Health requirements: All dogs entered must be at least 6 months of age at time entries are due. A rabies certificate dated within 36 months of entry is required for each dog entered. All dogs must have distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, para influenza, parvovirus and corona virus vaccinations within 36 months of entry. Proof of vaccinations is required. Any questions, please call the Superintendent. All dogs must have been free from any contact with any infectious illness at least 30 days prior to entry. No female dog in estrus (heat/season) may be exhibited. Fair vet must and will reject any animal with an infectious disease or ectoparasites such as lice, mites, ticks, fleas.
2. Entries can be entered on-line, or forms are due in the Fair office by July 25th. If July 25th falls on a weekend, entries will be accepted in the Fair office on Monday. See rule #1 on 4-H General Rules & Regulations. Entry must be signed by parent or guardian of each exhibitor assuming any and all responsibility and liability resulting from any action, accidents or misfortune to the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. All exhibitors or clubs participating at this Fair in these events must be accompanied by an adult leader, advisor, and/or parent or guardian. All dogs must be the exhibitor's project animal. A lease or record book is required if the dog is not owned by the exhibitor or exhibitor’s family.
3. All dogs shall be kept on leash except as required for exhibiting purposes and are not allowed to enter into livestock or other exhibit buildings on the Fairgrounds. An exhibit building, exercise and judging areas are provided. A Guide Dog Puppy will be allowed to go out on the Fairgrounds only if the puppy is wearing its Guide Dog Coat, is controlled by its 4-H Puppy Raiser, and is accompanied by an adult.
4. No dog will be crated or muzzled on the bench. Any dog that cannot be benched without causing a problem will be excused from the Fairgrounds. No dog without suitable benching equipment, which includes a leather or web buckle collar and a benching chain with swivel bolt snaps at both ends, will be allowed on the bench, and will be excused from the Fairgrounds. The benching chain should be at least as long as the shoulder height of your dog, maximum length 3 feet. Training collars are not allowed on the bench.
5. No dog shall be left unattended. At least one attendant for every four dogs shall be on duty at all times. The attendants must be a 4-H dog exhibitor or an approved member of the immediate family. No exhibit may be removed from the exhibit building or Fairgrounds to another place without the consent of the Superintendent during the scheduled hours of the show. All dogs will be benched from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. No dogs will be left in the benching area overnight.
6. Each exhibitor is solely responsible for the cleanliness, control, and conduct of their entry. Exhibitors are expected to maintain a clean bench area and shall toilet, exercise and groom their exhibits in designated areas only, and will be responsible for keeping such areas clean and orderly (clean-up equipment is provided). No food will be allowed in the building. This rule will be strictly enforced.
7. 4-H members exhibiting a dog must enter one lot from each Class A, Class B - Lots 1 thru 9, and Class C in order to be considered for Best Overall Showman.. Best of Division will be awarded on total of scores received by the 4-H member showing the same dog in Class A, B, and C. Members not entering classes A, B, and C will not be eligible for Best of Division.
8. Juniors: 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
Intermediate: 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
Senior: 9th grade and over

Judging will be done on a club basis (minimum of four animals). Will be based on display effects, club sign, name or stall cards, cleanliness and orderliness of benching, equipment out of sight or neatly displayed, alleyway swept and neat, educational displays - 60%; exhibitors (youth on duty) appearance, courtesy, conduct and cooperation on job - 30%; Dogs, securely and properly tied on benched, clean and comfortable, regularly cared for - 10%.
