Entries can be placed on-line or forms are due in the Fair office by July 25th. Entries placed on-line will require bringing a copy of the animal’s registration to the Fair office or faxing a copy of the registration to 354-1315. **Please note** If you do not yet have a registration number or ear tag/tattoo for an animal you can enter “pending” in the box on the entry form. See rule #1. If July 25th falls on a weekend, entries will be accepted in the Fair office on the following Monday without penalty. Late entries will be charged a fee of $10.00 per head through July 31st. After July 31st late entries may not be accepted.
1. All entries in this department must be registered. A photo copy of all registration papers must accompany the livestock entry form to the Fair office or the entry will not be accepted. All registration papers and tattoos will be checked. No animal deemed unworthy shall be entered..
2. Each exhibitor will be limited to 14 head, all breeds included. No more than two dry cows per exhibitor. In case of shortage in stall space, exhibitors with the most entries will be cut first.
3. Each exhibitor will be limited to two premiums in any one lot.
4. Any breed with less than 5 head becomes an exhibit, not qualified for lot premiums. Exhibit premiums will be $30.00 per head.
5. Passes available for purchase at the Fair office issued on the basis of two passes for the first two cattle and one pass for every two cattle thereafter. Passes will be made available after the stalls have been assigned.
6. Cattle exhibitors will please read the general rules of the Fair and note, especially, those that apply to the Cattle Department. See the Superintendent for information and equipment use.
7. Only blue and red ribbon winners from 4-H and FFA may enter Open Class, provided there are a minimum of 10 open class cattle per breed or two exhibitors.
8. Beef bulls over six months must have nose restraint.
9. A maximum of two animals from any one exhibitor are allowed in the wash rack at any one time.
10. A respiratory complex vaccine is strongly recommended four (4) weeks prior to the Fair.
11. Keep the barns neat and clean for the public. Bedding will be furnished by the Fair. Exhibitors must provide attendants for their cattle.

PREMIER BREEDER AND EXHIBITOR AWARDS
The Northwest Washington Fair will award banners for premier breeder and premier exhibitor awards. To qualify for banners there must be competition of two or more hers in each breed and a minimum of three head per heard.
Premier Breeder – The breeder winning the most money on not to exceed six animals in the open single classes exhibited by himself and or other exhibitors shall be designated the Premier Breeder. In case of a tie the breeder with the most champions will be the winner.
Premier Exhibitor – The exhibitor winning the most money on not to exceed six animals owned and exhibited by himself shall be designated the Premier Exhibitor. An exhibitor’s qualifying animals shall be defined as follows: Any animal within the family unit housed on exhibitor’s farm may be used for this award.

Dennis Andrews Memorial Steer Award
These awards are available to 4H, FFA, and youth division entries at designated shows. Savings bonds of $100 will be awarded to the exhibitor of a Limousin-influenced on-hoof Grand Champion Steer and/or Grand Champion Carcass Steer of 4H, FFA, and youth divisions. The Steer must be of 50% or greater Limousin breeding and exhibit Limousin characteristics. If an exhibitor wins the grand championship, they must contact a WSLA officer listed below for an information packet. This packet must be completed by the exhibitor and mailed back within 45 days of show.

North American Limousin Foundation
Standard Rules & Regulations for the Exhibition of Limousin Cattle 2007
1. All animals must be registered with the North American Limousin Foundation. Any animal over 30 days of age, including calves to be shown at side of dam, must have proof of a registration certificate and be recorded with the North American Limousin Foundation. For ET calves, parentage verification paperwork must be in the NALF system.
2. All animals must be 75% (3/4) Limousin or greater as indicated by registration certificate. Percentage and purebred Limousin cattle shall compete in the same classes and championships.
3. All animals must be properly tattooed and will be inspected at the show. Tattoos must be legible and must properly match the registration certificate. If an animal’s tattoo is not legible and cannot be read the first time through processing, it will not be allowed to come back through with a fresh tattoo. Fresh tattoos are acceptable, but animals that do not have legible tattoos when first processed will not be reprocessed.
4. To maintain a high degree of confidence in Limousin shows, the North American Limousin Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any animal that has been fitted in an unethical manner. Unethical fitting shall include the following:
a. Any use of paints, hair coloring conditioners, colored show foam, graphite, colored powders or any other substance; all animals subject to white towel test.
b. The addition of any hair or hair like substances, including false tail heads and false polls (false tail switches are allowed);
c. The cutting, tearing, or gluing of the hide or underneath the hide or removal of tissue in an attempt to alter the shape of the animal;
d. The injection of any gas, solid or liquid under the hide to alter the normal conformation;
e. Any products/solutions/liquids administered internally or externally to alter the conformation of the animal is prohibited. This includes the use of steroids, growth promotants, and the act of artificially filling animals internally, which would include stomach pumping, drench tubes, or any other method.
f. Exceptions: In the case of severely sick or severely dehydrated animals, the exhibitor may have fluids or electrolytes administered by the licensed official show veterinarian with the approval of the show Superintendent and/or North American Limousin Foundation representative. This exception is not applicable on show day or weigh-in/check-in day.
5. All bulls over one year of age must show with a nose-lead. The right to disqualify from the show any animal deemed unmanageable is reserved by the Limousin show superintendent and the show management.
6. All protest against exhibitors, individual animals or fitting violations of show cattle must be submitted in writing and signed by five (5) active members of the North American Limousin Foundation and presented to the show Superintendent within 12 hours after the completion of the show.
7. The North American Limousin Foundation reserves the right to mouth animals for dental development at any show sponsored by the Foundation.
8. Classes and championship breaks will be made-up after all cattle have been checked in. No class shall contain more than 20 head or have an age spread of more than 60 days unless the animals are over two years old. Premiums will be awarded on a graduated basis through 5th place after the show has been completed.
9. Calves exhibited alongside dams in the cow/calf division are ineligible to show as individuals. In addition, all calves exhibited alongside dams must be registered.
10. All cattle will be processed before the show.
11. In shows occurring after January 1, 2007; animals born through August 31, 2006 are eligible to show.
12. The North American Limousin Foundation reserves the right to collect hair samples from any animal, at any show.
13. All animals shown must be solid red or black above the flanks, except birth marks.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements must be met to receive points at Medal of Excellence events.
To receive MOE points all cattle must have the following performance data submitted and on file at the North American Limousin Foundation:
a) Birth Weight (bulls and heifers)
b) Weaning Weight (bulls and heifers)
c) Yearling Weight (bulls and heifers)
d) Scrotal at 1 year of age (bulls
e) Pregnancy test (any female 600 days old at seasons end)
f) Breeding Soundness Exam and Semen Test (all bulls over 400 days old)
Note: All performance data must be submitted by December 1 of the current show season. Failure to have documentation on file at NALF by this date will result in disqualification from the MOE program and no points will be awarded. It is the responsibility of the breeder/owner/exhibitor to submit this information; NAFL will not send any communication to owner/exhibitor requesting this information.
Credibility Requirement: In order to maintain a high degree of integrity and credibility in all Limousin shows, all owners and exhibitors will be expected to adhere to all North American Limousin Foundation rules and regulations regarding the exhibition of Limousin cattle. In addition, adhering to any other rules and regulations deemed suitable by the particular show, fair or exhibition.
